Local wildlife site monitoring and condition assessment

Summary: Local Wildlife Sites monitoring. The Durham Biodiversity Partnership asked us to conduct Condition Assessments in several of the LWS in County Durham, as part of their monitoring program. These sites are all included in the Durham Biodiversity Action Plan due to their ecological importance. Condition assessment in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Summary: We spent a month surveying limestone pavement, calcareous grasslands and flushes inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The area surveyed was between the town of Skipton and Gargrave. First year of VEC courses

Verde-ecology Consultancy took a “leap of faith” and launched ecology and botany courses for professionals working in the nature conservation sector. The courses range from Phase 1 habitat survey to calcareous grassland NVC, to grasses id.  In 2020 we hope to deliver more courses.

Delivery of Field Studies Council courses

We were hired by the Field Studies Council to deliver IB biology courses to students coming from abroad.  This was in the FSC centre in Pembrokeshire, a long way away from Durham. We did rocky shore explorations, dune surveying and woodland work.

A19 road verges species survey
